What's the easiest (and cheapest) way to paint a wrought iron fence?

We have a 5' tall, black wrought iron fence around our back yard -- we live on a golf course -- and it has become all weathered and faded. Is it easier to just grab a brush and get started? Or rent a sprayer? Or what?

the easiest way i have found is to get one of those "mitts" like you wash a car with . looks like lambs wool. just dip your hand into the paint and "feel " of all the surface. you can get the paint into all the nooks and crannys and there is noy hardly any dripping
