Golf Iron Trajectories
How do you hit the golf ball high?
My brother and I are two different players. I'm actually a better golf than he is(2 vs 4 handicap) but I can't deny that I'd kill to add his trajectory to my game. For example, my ball flight with my driver(and long irons) takes off at a direct trajectory that slowly climbs to a decent height while his ball starts off relatively low but quickly rises in the same shape a roller coaster would start to rise. It also gives off a pretty swoosh noise.
I'm quite happy with my game, but I can't deny that getting the type of height he has would definitely help me keep my long irons on the green for those precious eagle opportunities!
My first guess is that you and your brother have different body types, are/or are different heights, and/or have different swings. Tall players generally hit it higher than short players, and players with more upright swingpaths hit it higher than those with flatter swing planes.
If you watch Tour pros they all hit it differently - little guys like Mike Weir or Zaxk Johnson hardly ever hit it above the tree line, while tall guys like Bubba Watson or Tiger hit moon balls.
But you could make a little change merely by changing up your bag (I'm guessing you guys' bags are pretty close, equipment-wise) - ditch the long irons for hybrids, and pitch the blades for big-soled Cavity Back Irons.
But ultimately it comes down to not trying to be something you're not, and frankly at your skill level it would seem to be a useless endeavor.
