Golf Irons Beginner

Trouble Finding Good Beginner golf clubs...?

am just begining golf, and I was wondering what type of clubs I should get. My instructor said that I need at least a putter, 3 iron and 7 iron to start with. Also, someone said I would need standard flex clubs. (I believe he means standard size, flex shaft.) Should I get a whole set of clubs, or should I just get a couple start out with. Also, what companies are good for me, but not too expensive? Thanks.
Also, if you know of any good type of golf balls, please tell me.

Local sporting goof stores such as Sports Authority, Big 5, Sports Chalet and so on sell complete golf sets for about $150.00. This will include everything you need including the bag itself.

However, if you're serious about playing the game I can't stress this enough....take lessons and GET FITTED for clubs. Especially your irons. I had an "off the rack" Wilson set from Big 5 for about 6 months and although they were okay, I didn't know what I was missing until I got fitted for my Callaway's.

Talk about a HUGE difference. Just having my irons fitted dropped my score by 7 strokes on the first day I used them and I've been consistent ever since then.

If you're tall, short, long or short arms, the off the rack set you buy from the above mentioned stores will hurt you more than help you as you will wind up adjusting your swing for the clubs rather than the clubs adjusting to your swing.

I hate to tell you this but golf, is a VERY expensive hobby. From the clubs, to the golf balls, to the golf shoes and gloves that you will buy to play the game.

But again, if you're truly serious about playing the game, do it the right way and get fitted for clubs. It will make a world of difference.
