New grips golf?
I am getting new grips put on my irons and I am having the oversize lamkin dual density ones replacing the old stock grips. Are these good grips? Will these take a while to get used to and once I get used to them will they improve my game and in which ways?
I've never used Lamkin dual density grips before so I don't know if they are good, average or bad. I just wanted to talk about the size of the grip for a moment. You say you're getting oversized grips. Is the reason you're getting oversized grips because you have big hands? Be careful when getting oversized grips. The bigger the grips the harder it is to turn the club over. Most people get oversized grips for two reasons; (1) they have big hands and need the oversized grips to make their hands fit properly on the golf club and (2) most golfers who have a severe hooking problem sometimes get oversized grips because it makes turning the club over more difficult thus eliminating the hook from their game. Make sure you are choosing the oversized grips for the right reason. The smaller/thinner the grip, the easier it is to turn the club over and draw or hook the ball. I personally like a thinner grip b/c I can feel what the clubface is doing at the point of impact. It also allows me to work the ball easier than a thick or oversized grip.
