Golf Irons Seniors
Would I benefit from using a senior flex shaft on my golf clubs?
I'm 45 years old, and very strong in the gym, but this strength seems to not translate very well to the golf course. If I drive the ball 200 yards, it's practically a miracle, even on a relatively straight drive (If I hit the ball "well" I have a slight fade). Would I benefit from using a senior flex shaft on my driver to get some added distance?
I always have to go 1 or 2 clubs up to get the ball to the same place as other golfers. For example, I have to hit a 6 iron or a 5 iron to get it 150 yards.
Brute strength doesn't always translate into big hitting. You need to generate a reasonable clubhead speed to send the ball further, and this relies on many different muscle groups as well as a smooth and coordinated swing.
If you have access to somewhere with monitoring facilities (either at a golf shop or driving range), then look to have your swing analysed by an experienced pro, they can advise you on whether you need to change something in the way you swing, or whether you'll need a senior-flex shaft.
