Not Hitting the Golf Ball Consistently?

I have trouble hitting the ball so it gets airborne and goes the distance. Sometimes I know what I did wrong (topped the ball, didn't look at the ball etc.) but sometime i feel like i hit a perfect shot with my 9 Iron and it gets off the ground about 7 feet and goes about 30 yards plus roll.do you know what I am doing wrong? i am 12 years old and i think i swing at a moderate speed. i am taking lessons and sometimes the instructor has to see me swing a couple of times to assess the error i am making. Additional info.(if needed): i am 5'2" and have Special Clubs that fit perfectly and feel great. I have taylormade 3 and 5 woods and a cleveland Gold Launcher Driver. when i hit a good ball (about 75% of the time) it often goes straight and then goes way out to the right. is this a cause of overswinging? or is it because i am not hitting the sweetspot. i can usually hit the driver about 215 yards. please help!!!

If you don't finish the ball correctly (swing the club all the way through so that at the end of the shot you are facing the hole and your arms have pulled the club towards your back), it won't get enough swing to go all the way.
If I were you I would also practice lining up a tee (with no ball), aiming, etc., and swinging so that you take a little chunk out of the grass behind it when you wack where the ball would be. Doing this helps you stay low on the ball so that when you release, you hit a steady shot that isn't too high up.
By the way, you mentioned the ball flies to the right. Don't worry about the "sweetspot" until you're 30! The ball is probably too far back in your stance. Move your back foot closer to it (horizontally) and your left foot forward as well. You don't want to clip the ball too early or it will swing to the right (a common problem).
You're lucky to have all this at 12. Keep practicing!

They are revolutionizing golfers playing experience at driving ranges and golf courses by replacing unrealistic, hard synthetic grass golf mats with a realistic representation of a fairway. By using TrueStrike  rather than ordinary mats, which produce unrealistic shots, the "fairway forgiveness" will actually help to improve your practice experience by replicating the shots they would experience on the fairway. You will love the realism the fairway forgiveness effect produces and see real benefits previously unobtainable from range practice. With TrueStrike  your customer's play with the confidence of knowing they will be protecting themselves from future problems and avoidingthe aggravation of existing injuries.
