Shaft Reg Flex
which flex is right for me?
awhile back i used a 12 deg cobra m spd driver with a reg flex shaft and was shooting the ball all over the place. Later I went to the range with a 10.5 deg Launcher driver with a stiff flex and was hitting it straight down the line. Do I need a stiif flex? I have never had my swing speed measured.
How far do you drive the ball? If you drive it over about 240 yards and the stiff flex does feel better, you should go for it. If you do not drive close to 240 yards, say less than 230 yards, your swing is probably not fast enough to warrant a stiff flex and the stiff flex may just be compensating for a different flaw in your swing, in which case a stiff flex may not be bad for you, but it may encourage and mask an imperfection in your swing. If you are serious about golf, it's unlikely you want to cover up your flaws, you probably want to fix them.
Definitely figure out how far you drive. You can even go to the pro shop at your course or some place like Golf Galaxy, and get a speed reading for free.
